I love it when I see marketing working and wanted to share with you a recent example of how you can use Facebook and Twitter to market your clinic.

Here’s what I did.

I posted a link on Herrle’s Country Farm fan page with an article from an article service I subscribe to. The article was about strawberries and Herrle’s is known for corn and strawberries.

I posted the article figuring that they would not remove it from their page since the article talks about the benefits of eating strawberries. Why would they remove something that promotes people buying their strawberries?

A few days later, I happen to click on a link that they posted on their Twitter about selling vintage bags. And I noticed that they printed my article! Here’s the specific ‘tweet‘ that revealed this picture:

So you never know just how far a post will go. Gotta admit that my goal and initial hope was simply that my link would remain on their fan page. When I saw that they had printed my article, I was thrilled.

Thus ‘like’ and follow local businesses. Then when you have information that would benefit their business, share it with them. It’s in their best interest to post and share information that will increase sales. Ultimately it mean more exposure for you!

Some are good, and others, I’d recommend you pass. The big questions is how do they get people going to their site? What is that directory’s business plan? The directory is only as good as the people going there and wanting to find a Chiropractor in their area.

Given how Twitter and Facebook and social media is going, I’m a bigger fan for building up my immediate network and then focusing my efforts in promoting my clinic via the social media sites. In those sites people are already ‘there’ – there being on the site, interacting with others. So as you interact with others, your circle of friends will grow, and so with those who read what you post.

So ask patients and friends – have they heard of the directory you are looking at. Do they spend time on Twitter or Facebook?

Ultimately it’s about putting your time and energy into the sites where people are already hanging out.
